Snorkeling in Thailand, is it really worth the trouble?

Snorkeling Phuket Phi Phi Island James Bond Island Monkey Island

Snorkeling Phuket Phi Phi Island James Bond Island Monkey IslandShould you spend your cash on heading out on one of the private adventures you see being sold on every street corner in Phuket?

Well I say a resounding yes!

Now if your an avid scuba diver or snorkeler, then one of these trips is definitely not for you. Draw the comparison with the Australian Great Barrier Reef, with it’s multitude of marine life.

Now Thailand does not have this, but for someone who has little or no experience in snorkelling, then hitting up one of these day trips can be a great experience.

Considering the options is pretty easy, most of the day trips will hit Phi Phi Island, Monkey Island, Jame Bond Island and Viking Cove. All beautiful places and worth the time and energy. I have personally been snorkeling off a large charter boat at Monkey Island. For me it was an exceptional day aside from the rough weather and 30% of the passengers on the boat vomiting the whole trip. My time in the water was great, floating around in pristine blue waters, millions of fish swimming about (yes they are all the same breed) and the opportunity to swim over to the beach and say hi to some not so friendly monkey's made it a great day. norkeling Phuket Phi Phi Island James Bond Island Monkey IslandConsidering the options is pretty easy, most of the day trips will hit Phi Phi Island, Monkey Island, Jame Bond Island and Viking Cove. My number one recommendation when snorkeling off a fully packed big charter boat, try and be one of the first people in the water, that way you ensure you get a decent amount of time to absorb your beautiful surrounds. Having a plan for the future will involve spending a couple of days on Phi Phi Island, and privately chartering a long boat out to the cluster of island and spending some decent time in the water and not feeling like you are watching the clock. On a final note, to the selfish grubby Indian tourist bitch on my tour boat who couldn't walk one meter to the rubbish bin and instead felt it better to throw all her rubbish overboard into the beautiful pristine waterways, stay in fucking India next time!!!My number one recommendation when snorkelling off a fully packed big charter boat, try and be one of the first people in the water, that way you ensure you get a decent amount of time to absorb your beautiful surrounds.

Shop around the tour shops also, as a decent gauge, I went on a boat with about 250 other people, to 4 island, snorkeling and lunch for 1600THB for 2 people.
