About me

15253514_10155015335608268_5707890502162650573_nI’m 40 something, a Graphic Designer and web developer from Queensland, Australia, having spent the last 20+ years in the associated printing industry, frustrated with the generic life I had. I had the house, the management job, but there were things missing in my life, the excitment.

Given I have hit the mid life point, with no strong commitments to keep me in one place, and after a messy breakup (yes we all know how they can get) I decided it was a great opportunity knocking at my door to get back into travelling and reconnect with the parts of myself I had lost over the years.

I hadn’t travelled much since I was in my early twenties, so things have changed considerably with the evolution of the internet making everything from communication, accommodation and even the ability to fund your global exploration easier.

This gruelling 14 day Adventure Motorcycling in Asia started for me in Ban Pong in Ratchaburi Thailand, then heading north to Phitsanulok, Phrae, Chiang Rai, crossing into Myanmar for the markets at Tachileik, then onto Chiang Klong, Lao border crossing at Huay Xai, then entering China and continueing to Muang Sing, Xishuangbanna, Lacang, Lincang, Dali, Lijang, and the final destination in the mountains of Shangri-La and snow.
As we speak I have travelled to more than 20+ countries, ridden a motorcycle across 4 of them and I am finally starting to find out what it’s like to really LIVE. Midlifemate is an opportunity for me to share my experiences, good and bad.
