As some of you might know, I had some side and top boxes on my old Kawasaki Versys. They were GIVI Brand, setting me back 50’000THB with brackets for the set of 3.
Now with my friend buying himself a new Versys, he searched out to find what was available and stumbled upon Tor Adventure Thailand.
They are a new company, building the boxes here in Thailand for the Thai market.
Now you might think that there is no chance that these Thai guys could make a box anywhere near as good as an imported set right? Well I’m here to tell you their quality is great, even exceptional!
First we start with the price, two side boxes come in around the 18’000THB with brackets, and these boxes are 43 and 38 litres, and add yourself another 10’000thb for a top box with steel mounting plate.
Now I was around when my mate John got the guys to fit two side boxes to his new Kawasaki Versys, and I have to say the quality of the mountings and boxes are great.
Some stand out points worth noting over the more expensive imports is the fact that all joins are tig welded, the opening lip has a rubber seal to keep water out (my expensive ones always leaked), high quality double action keyed locks made from stainless steel, 2.5mm aluminum and the fact you can order them anodised if you like.
The tops open two ways as you would expect, with a stainless steel rope retaining strap and removing the boxes from the bike is simple and under 1 minute providing you have a small allen key. The mounting frames are powder coated in black making them durable to the elements.
They feature side pegs so you can put your camping gear on top and tie down, and until some of the more expensive brands also feature front and rear pegs for tie downs.
They currently have mounting frames to suit all Kawasaki Versys models, Honda CB500X, BMX GS Series, and now thanks to my enquiry with the Ducati Hyperstrada, will be offering a 35 and 40 litre top box with steel mounting plate. They mocked one up on my bike while I was where.
Using a pannier liner can also be a great addition, this allows you to easily remove your lugagge when you arrive at your destination.
